Susan Kay Townley November 11, 1950 ~ March 15, 2025 Susan Townley Obituary Norman, Oklahoma-Susan Kay Townley passed away on March 15, 2025 after a long illness. She was born November 11, 1950 in Cushing Oklahoma to Owen and Margaaret Townley along with her twin brother Richard Townley.. Susan moved frequently during her childhood betweeen West Texas and Oklahoma, due to OIwen's work with Halliburton and Wellex. In 1960 the family settled in Norman, Oklahoma, when Owen came to work for the FAA. Susan attended St. Joseph's Catholic until its closing, and then attended Norman Public Schools. After high school graduation in 1969, she atteded some college and then went to work for Blazer Finance in Oklahboma City. She was one of the first female managers in the company and received many awards throughout her career with Blazer. Through her work at Blazer, she was able to travel for company training sessions; she enjoyed visiting new cities and meeting colleagues across the country. In addition to her work at Blazer Finance Susan also worked part time at the Book Stall in Norman with Dall Hall; she loved books throught her lifetime and collected quite a library. Suan surfferd a stroke at age 42, and resigned from Blazer Finance. After a lengthy recovery from her stroke, Susan went to work for Mr. Hall at the Book Stall. The Hall family was a great support system for Susan and her family following her stroke and recovery. After retiring, Miss Townley spent time at her home in Norman reading, gardening, looking after her parents as the aged, and enjoying family which included visits from her numberous great nieces and nephews. Susan was a lifelong reident of Norman. Once she arrived as a young woman she never left and enjoyed living in this communmity. Susan is survived by her sister Nancy Hill of Norman, Richard & Rachel Townley of Tulsa, and Ellen Townley of Allen, Tx, Nieces Natalie Hill, Laura Stafford, and Janice Simon, Nephew Brian Townley, along with 8 grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Owen & Magaret Townly, her nephew Jeffry Hill and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 14 at 4:00 PM at the Depot in Norman, Oklahoma.
